OUR MINISTRY—SERVING GOD BY SERVING OTHERS
Worship
At First Baptist Church of Oakville, Christ-centered worship is the most important ministry we have. Our worship style is a blended traditional style with elements of contemporary worship. Our preaching is dynamic, Biblical, and relevant. Our Music Ministry includes a worship choir that actively serves each Sunday morning, and also presents special programs, cantatas, etc throughout the year. The Church meets for worship on Sunday morning at 10:45 am and Sunday evening at 6:00 pm.
Bible Study
We believe the Bible is God’s Holy Word, and is essential for our Spiritual vitality. Our Church family meets for Sunday School at 9:30 am each Sunday. Through the Sunday School, relationships are formed and people become connected to the First Baptist family. We provide classes for every member of the family to study God’s Word together. We also have Bible Study for adults on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. We encourage our members to read their Bible regularly.
Children’s Ministry
Jesus loves children. Because we love them too, our goal is partnering with parents to encourage academic, social, spiritual, physical, and emotional growth of our children, to form a "firm foundation" for life. We provide a graded Sunday School for children and pre-schoolers each Sunday morning, and a Children’s Worship service during the 10:45 Service. In addition, we offer Kids Kollege each Wednesday evening during the school year, and free Children’s Camps and Vacation Bible School in the Summer.
Students
The goal of our Student ministry is help young people have a saving faith in Jesus Christ, and mature into fully devoted followers of Him. Our Youth meet each Sunday morning at 9:30 for Bible Study, and each Wednesday evening for a special worship experience, featuring a band, Bible Study, and activities. Special Youth activities and ministries are also scheduled throughout the year.
Prayer Ministry
Our Church family has experienced many circumstances of needing and receiving an answer to prayer. Believing in God’s faithfulness, and recognizing our human frailties, we maintain an active prayer ministry. Prayer Partners support our worship service each Sunday morning. We also meet each Wednesday evening for intercessory prayer and Bible Study. In addition, we utilize a Phonetree telephone message system that shares prayer requests, concerns and needs with our congregation through the week.
Seniors
We have one of the greatest groups of Senior Adults anywhere. Our Senior Adults are involved, Christ loving people, who follow Christ and serve Him with a deep passion thorough our Church. Whether you are widowed, single or happily married, there is a place for you to get acquainted. Bible Study classes meet at 9:30 am each Sunday. In addition, our Pep Club meets the first Thursday of each month, for lunch, fellowship, and games/activities. Occasionally, our lunch is at other locations across Missouri and Southern Illinois.
Library/Media
The Library/Media Ministry of First Baptist Church has a wealth of printed, audio, and video media to inform and assist our Church family in discipleship and spiritual development. The Library is open on Sunday mornings, and is available during normal office hours through the week.
Missions/Ministry
Our church exists to evangelize the lost, and to disciple the saved. First Baptist Church supports world-wide missions endeavors with special offerings throughout the year, and by regular support through our Church Budget to the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention. In addition, we support several local ministries through our gifts and volunteer involvement. The Church also provides benevolent assistance to several local families through our Deacon ministry.
In Addition:
- We offer a 1/4 mile walking trail open to the public from dawn until dusk.
- We have a playground for the kids, softball diamond, outdoor basketball court, and have a co-ed softball team in the Summer.
